MCLE Rule
Bar Rule 65 governs Bar member requirements and incentives, and approval of CLE courses, content, and activities.
Bar Rule 66 covers noncompliance with CLE requirements and suspension.
MCLE Information
December 31st is the deadline for earning credits. February 1st of the next year is the deadline for filing MCLE Reports. Inactive Bar members and individuals admitted in the current year are exempt from MCLE requirements.
Still need to earn credits?
Your CLE hours may be met either by attending courses or by completing any other continuing legal education activity listed in Alaska Bar Rule 65 (g) and approved for credit by the Association. Any course or continuing legal education activity approved for
credit by a jurisdiction, other than Alaska, that requires continuing legal education is approved for credit in Alaska. View the Alaska Bar’s CLE offerings here.

When does the CLE increase go into effect?
On January 17, 2024, the Alaska Supreme Court signed SCO No. 2016 amending Bar Rules 65 and 66 to increase mandatory continuing legal education for active bar members to twelve CLE credit hours per year. Three of those twelve CLE credits must be ethics CLE. The rule will go into effect on January 1, 2025, and the first reporting deadline for the new rule will be February 1, 2026. SCO No. 2016 also expanded the activities that count for CLE credit. For more information click here.
