Elder Appreciation and Wills Clinic
October 17, 2025 During the AFN Convention
Elders may get the following for free:
– Appointment with an attorney who will write your Will, Power of Attorney, and Advance Health Care Directive for FREE. Make sure your wishes are honored after your death and if you cannot make financial or health care decisions for yourself. See below for how to register.
Drop-in booths (no appt necessary) with information and referrals for Elders, including:
– Intake and referral to long-term care
– Assistance applying for public benefits and appeals of SNAP delays
– Food Bank of Alaska
– Memory and dementia screenings
You must pre-register for an appointment to have a volunteer attorney write up your Will, Power of Attorney, and Advance Health Care Directive:

To have your free documents prepared by an attorney:
- Complete this intake form: EAWC Client Intake Form – PDF version or EAWC Client Intake Form – Word version). Couples may choose to complete a single intake form or separate forms.
- Mail or email the form to the Alaska Bar Association (address on form) before October 16.
- We will call you to schedule an appointment.
- Bring your intake form and other important documents listed on the intake form to your appointment.
- The volunteer attorney will write up your documents and you can sign and take them home that day.
You must complete steps 1 and 2, above,to make an appointment!
If you need help completing the intake form, we have several ways you can get help:
- Call the Alaska Bar Association at (907) 272-7469 and we will help you complete the form by phone or in person or mail you the form if you can do it yourself.
- Attend a free presentation from an estate planning attorney on wills, powers of attorney, and advance health care directives to learn how these documents can serve to honor your wishes after your death and when you cannot make health and financial decisions for yourself. Volunteers will help clients fill out the intake form after the presentation. This free event will be held:
