About the Clinic
📅 Third Monday in January on MLK Jr. Day
On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which falls on the third Monday in January each year, the Alaska Bar Association and its partners host MLK Day free legal help clinics at locations throughout Alaska. In 2026, clinics were held in Anchorage, Bethel, Fairbanks, and Juneau. Check this page in early January for updates about the location and times of the next clinic.
Volunteer attorneys will provide brief legal help to low to moderate income Alaskan in need of advice for civil (non-criminal) legal issues.
Who Can Attend: All low-income Alaskans are welcome.

This clinic provides legal advice only and does not create ongoing attorney representation.
What to Expect
Volunteer attorneys will provide brief legal help to low to moderate income Alaskan in need of advice for civil (non-criminal) legal issues.
1️⃣ An intake volunteer will briefly ask about your legal issue.
2️⃣ You will be matched with a volunteer attorney.
3️⃣ Attorneys will provide short consultations (about 20–30 minutes).
No appointment is required. Walk-ins are welcome! You may have to wait briefly until an intake volunteer is available.

Who Organizes This?
These events are organized by the Alaska Bar Association in partnership with the Alaska Court System, Alaska Legal Services Corporation, ACLU of Alaska, and local bar associations. Many attorneys, judges, and legal professionals throughout the state volunteer their time on this day to serve fellow Alaskans in need of legal help.
